2021 Honda Accord vs. 2021 Dodge Charger

Overview

The Honda Accord is one of the world's most reliable family sedans, while the Dodge Charger is a muscle car. Both sedans are great for daily treks around town with the family. They have modern tech and safety features at relatively low starting prices. So what is the best bang for your buck, the 2021 Honda Accord or the 2021 Dodge Charger?

Power and Performance

The Honda Accord comes standard with a turbocharged 195-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Buyers also have the option of a turbocharged 252-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Both engines have a 10-speed automatic transmission with a seamless gear change. The Accord's performance splits the difference between a sports sedan and a family vehicle.

The Charger may have more towing capacity than the Accord, but when it comes to a more family-friendly sedan, the 2021 Honda Accord surpasses its competition in reliability, cost, and comfort.

Fuel Economy

Honda decided to switch up its gasoline engine options for the new Accord, choosing to go with two turbo four-cylinders rather than their previous V-6 and four-cylinder combo. You can see why when you look at their EPA ratings. The 1.5-liter gets 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, while the 2.0-liter gets 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

The Charger is a large vehicle with a penchant for guzzling gas. The Charger's 6.2-liter V-8 gets 12 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The V-6 gets 19 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Interior

Though the Accord looks small, it has a surprisingly spacious interior. Its rear seats leave passengers happy with plenty of legroom, something the Dodge could work on. The 2021 Accord has attractive upholstery and enough creature comforts to keep you happy through long road trips.

Unfortunately, most drivers aren't taking their four-door sedans to the race track. The Charger's huge standard engine and low fuel efficiency make it less appealing to the masses. In the shrinking market of family sedans, the Accord still sticks out as the best for its practical engine design, comfortable interior, and unbeatable value.
